"Yet another great read from Robert Saniscalchi. I have read three Audio books by this author now and each Audio book has not failed to please. He packs in so much detail that you feel the tension as if you were there. Well worth a read if you like Vietnam war Audio books."

“My Life For Her” is a well Listen story...
"The lead characters, Rob Marrino and Tex Larson, are well developed and do a good job of bringing the plot to life. I particularly enjoyed how Rob’s background as a Vietnam Veteran was central to his character and the story development. An easy to read adventure, “My Life For Her” is full of creative plot twists that will leave you wanting more."
Freedom's Light https://www.audible.com/pd/Freedoms-Light-
"Robert Saniscalchi has written his third book, Freedom's Light: A Rob and Tex adventure. This book follows on the heels of his previous two; Bullets and Bandages, and My Life for Her. A true patriot, Saniscalchi includes a preface in the beginning that rings so heartfelt today; namely that there is evil in the world, and we must overcome it with good."
"This is the first book I've ever read by Robert James Saniscalchi, but having read it I will search through her other titles. It was an excellent book! The subject matter was easy, and enjoy at times, as I knew it would be before starting. I could not put it down because I had to find out how the story ended. It was a glorious book."

- 5 out of 5 sta
- 5 out of 5Thrill Ride !"My Life For Her is about a vet who finds himself working and living in a small town. But trouble finds him and his family so he reunites with some old friends to rescue his family. The book can be described as an action / thriller / mystery novel. All driven by a sweet love and friendship to help him get by.
- I felt like the author tried to make it very authentic with the verbiage and never leave you too bored. It starts off a bit slow building the set but you are quickly whisked into the story and drama that follows.

| "I knew I was in for a good story when I saw author Robert J. Saniscalchi had written another book. I always enjoy his work and was not disappointed with"Butterfly Lake," where old friends, Rob and Tex, find themselves in a frightening nightmare. Trailing through the serine mountains, tracking two possible criminals brings back visions and thoughts from their time in Vietnam. But, they are on a mission and nothing but success is good enough. "Butterfly Lake" is another suspense-filled drama that is a fast and easy-read. One of those "I couldn't put it down" books. I read it straight through. A big 10 outta 10! Check this one out, you wont be disappointed." Review by TeamGolfwell"I enjoyed reading “Butterfly Lake: Another Rob Marrino and Tex Larson Story” by Robert J Saniscalchi which is an exceptional, well structured, and very dramatic story. "Bullets and Bandages: Bond of Brothers is a suspenseful novel, that is inspired by true events and unfolds like a memoir that doesn't just focus on the individual, but tells a larger story about brotherhood and courage.
There are those who glorify the war and the "kills" that are made. Indeed some of them get churned out into the Hollywood blockbusters. But not this book. It defines a standard to what a story should be, and it has turned out to be an excellent one.
The author brings to us a realistic view of what it is to be on the front line. The grisly details and the combat, the weariness of the body and soul, the mourning of loss, brothers-in-arms; the depth of emotion in these reflections is what I found most riveting. Truly, the absence of flowery prose is what sets it apart. I feel as if I am indeed in the trenches, in the jungle of Vietnam with Rob, the field medic as he tries to bring together the two diametrically apart functions - trying to save his fellow soldiers while taking down the enemy.
It truly made me realize that wars are not just fought by planes, and ships as they are depicted and glorified in movies. Nor are they fought by generals or Presidents. They are fought by thousands of nameless soldiers, who are at the front sweating and shedding their blood and sacrificing lives. It is a shame that when they come back stateside, they are forgotten by youngsters and politicians alike, cast aside as misfits. It is time we start respecting the sacrifices they made - leaving their families and serving the nation with honor, dignity, and integrity.
From the time I started reading the book, I was glued to it. Of course, there are books which will keep you occupied for hours, but not many of them give you an opportunity to introspect. A thorough, well-crafted thriller."

Bullets and Bandages: Bond of Brothers
by Robert J Saniscalchi
Robert J. Saniscalchi (Goodreads Author)
I enjoyed reading “Bullets and Bandages: Bond of Brothers” which is the 3rd Edition of this exceptional and extremely realistic story by Robert Saniscalchi, who in my opinion, is one of the best historical fiction writers about the real horrors of war.
The author writes a fast-paced story putting the reader right into the war and all its horrors. I felt the writing was incredibly realistic, frightening and very honestly portrayed the intensity and immediacy of guerrilla warfare with much more drama than if you watched it all happening on a movie screen. Here is a brief excerpt,
“I slowly crawled forward, toward the V.C. position, as the bullets started snapping around me. I was scared to move, but I returned fire. Suddenly, I heard a snap and a thud, to my right; I turned and there it was: a grenade.
“I rolled away, as quickly as possible, and most of the explosion went over me, though I felt a sting in my buttocks and arm; I couldn’t hear anything, except the ringing in my ears. I stayed low, in firing position, with my rifle at the ready, and as I turned in the direction the grenade had come from, I could see the V.C., looking to see if he had got me. I fired a burst and he went down.
“Their heavy machine-gun fire started again, and I knew we had to take it out. I had the best chance, from my location, so I started to crawl my way to their flank. I found a small ravine and worked around it, drawing closer and closer. When I felt close enough, I pulled the pin on one grenade, then another. Then, I tossed them both and hit the dirt.”
In my opinion, I was refreshed to read the way this brilliant author didn’t overdramatize or exaggerate. It was a unique experience for me to read the realism in this author’s style. He ingeniously and very effectively makes you “Walk the walk” in the same intense manner of many very courageous men whose lives were on the line every second of each patrol.
All in all, I liked this book very much and the way this brilliant author simply tells the story created a very lasting impression with me. I give this book loud applause for a story well told and recommend it highly. Very well done!"

Robert J. Saniscalchi (Goodreads Author)
I enjoyed reading “Butterfly Lake: Another Rob Marrino and Tex Larson Story” by Robert J Saniscalchi which is an exceptional, well structured, and very dramatic story. I also enjoyed reading another novel by this excellent author, “Bullets and Bandages: Bond of Brother.”
In my opinion, this is an action-packed story that I found to be highly entertaining. The author quickly takes the reader into heavy drama and suspense when a young girl (daughter of one of the protagonists) is cruelly abducted by two worthless, wicked derelicts.
I especially liked and was quickly drawn into the flow of this story, and the smooth and fast-paced writing style of this author who writes in a descriptive yet concise manner with just the right amount of detail. I felt the author kept the story very dramatic, eventful, with great amounts of tension and suspense continually growing as I read it.
For example,
“He stood there for a moment, then called out again. But, still, there was no reply and no sight of her. He walked along the tree line, still yelling for his daughter, as he made his way back toward the house. Every few feet, he stopped and looked about, then continued around the perimeter of the cabin, calling and searching. Tex felt his body tighten when he saw Angela, running toward him from the front of the house. She was in tears, her face full of fear.”
Both Rob and Tex struggle to deal with their emotions trying to maintain cool heads to save the girl.
I also felt the author described very realistic police investigations and organized searches to find the girl which added to the action of this enthralling tale.
I like the way the author takes the reader along with Rob and Tex, the police and other facets all on a mission to find the girl. The searches involve twists and turns and unexpected difficulties in attempts to rescue her which are very realistic and unexpected. In my opinion, this story is rich in action, suspense, escapes, captures, and much more.
All in all, I felt this story was very well done. I enjoyed reading the work of this intelligent and action-packed author with his brilliant style. Highly recommended!

Robert has clearly put a huge amount of work into this Vietnam
war drama. For somebody who never fought himself, but has written this book as
a clear tribute to the brave men who fought and died, with help from his
veteran brother, the research and passion he has applied to it is admirably on
show for all to see. I have read many Vietnam war memoirs, and I can truly say
that this is as authentic an account as you will read from an author who was
not present; the terminology, feelings of fear and anger of the men thrown into
a strange jungle environment, battle procedure and knowledge are collectively a
vast and admirable feat, and I respect Robert hugely for the sheer work ethic
which I know has gone into writing it.
Robert clearly has a great story to tell, which continues even after the principal character’s tour is over – I have not read a war book written from the viewpoint of the field medic, and it was an interesting and welcome approach. This is an honest book – an important book – highlighting the impact of the horrific and hard-hitting realities of war, which Robert so vividly and artfully depicts.
There is exciting action in this book, incredibly well written, with some great set-pieces. The author has created a potential ongoing narrative, suggesting that there is real legroom with this cast of characters to continue their exploits after the Vietnam war – I’d even go as far as to say that the potential of their adventures makes for a promising sequel, which I believe Robert has written, with several other books in the series, which I look forward to reading with anticipation. Robert constructs a good story and develops an endearing lead well – for pure hard work, research ethic and attention to detail, there are not many as conscientious as Robert, and I respect and applaud him sincerely for what he has achieved with Bullets and Bandages.

it was amazing
Inspired by his own brother’s journey in Vietnam war,
Saniscalchi’s military action tells the story of nineteen-year-old Patrick, who
flew into Vietnam as a US Army Field Medic in January 1968 and went through
ordeals of war exercising his tenacity, willpower, and wit.
The remarkable quote: “Courage is fear holding on a minute longer,” begins the narrative and paves the way for a fascinating military action tale that explores the deeper meaning of courage and friendship. Saniscalchi’s hero is an ordinary teenager who is barely trying to survive through tenures of war and that’s what gives authenticity to his voice.
Saniscalchi writes in a simple prose and successfully combines the pace and tension of an action thriller with thought-provoking examination of true faith, bonds of friendship, enduring family ties, and what it means to be human.
The book will appeal to a wide array of readership, including those uninterested in military action.
Thoroughly engrossing!
